Barcelona manager Hansi Flick says his players will recover from their heartbreaking Champions League semi-final defeat to Inter Milan and come back stronger next season.
The Italian side won the thrilling tie 7-6 on aggregate after two dramatic matches, ending Barca’s dream of winning four trophies in Flick’s first season.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Flick said, “I’m proud of my team, I’m proud of your team, we gave everything, and sometimes it’s like that. We have to accept it, and we start again next season. To win the Champions League, this is one of our goals… We will be back next season.”
Barcelona had hoped to win the Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup this season. They have already won two – the Super Cup and Copa del Rey – both after beating Real Madrid in the finals.
Now, the team must focus on La Liga, where they currently lead Real Madrid by four points. The two sides will face off on Sunday at the Munjua Stadium in a crucial match. A win for Barcelona would extend their lead at the top to seven points, with only four games left in the season.
“It will be a tough match on Sunday, but we will give everything,” Flick said. “When the players look in the mirror when they get home at three or four in the morning, I think they can be very proud.”
Flick, who previously led Bayern Munich to a historic sextuple, remains determined to bring more success to Barcelona. His experience and confidence have helped turn the team into strong title contenders.
With three trophies still within reach this season, the Catalan giants are hoping to finish the campaign on a high and return to Europe’s biggest stage even stronger next year.
