‘NO MUSIC DAY’ To Be Observed Today

The President of Musicians Union of Ghana, Bice Osei Kuffuor affectionately known as Obour has pleaded with managers of television and Radio stations not to play music today 14th September, 2018 which has been declared as a ‘no Music Day’.

Speaking at the press conference yesterday to elaborate on the ‘NO Music Day ‘, Obour said that it is an initiative by MUSIGA aimed at making the citizens know the essence of music in life of every individual.

According to him, it is also expected to instill some measure of appreciation in Ghanaians towards the role of the music industry by various musicians and creative people.

“So we will plead with all TV and radio stations not to play any music on 14th September, they can run their talk shows without music, so that listeners will know that the day is no music day ”

The initiative is the brainchild of MUSIGA and supported by Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Zylofon Art Fund (ZAF) in collaboration with International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) .

Information of The Institutions Involved:

GHAMRO, like all other copyright societies, is a non-profit corporate body, therefore, all fees collected are distributed among right owners whose works have been used, in this instance composers, authors and producers, publishers in proportion to the use made of their works.

Zylofon Art Fund (ZAF) is a scheme structured to support the various creative arts arms of the Nation both locally and internationally, to boost the prominence of the Arts and Tourisms in Ghana. ZAF is a credit relief fund with a non-interest mission. With its bid to give financial independence and support to creative people, it has come up over the years with ZylofonView.com for online movie viewing as an avenue for more money for producers.

ZAF, which was set up by the Chief Executive Officer for Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah, in January 2018, with a startup capital of $1million to provide financial support to persons and firms in the creative arts industry – has been overly active since its inception, providing the much-needed succor for industry players.

Thus far, the Fund has given monetary assistance to individuals, firms and event organizers in various regards. It has thus far produced close to 20 movies within 6 months of operations.
