2 Varsity Students to Die By Hanging

A Tamale High Court has handed a death sentence to two students of the Tamale Technical University (TaTU) for murdering the head pastor of the End Time Believers Bible Fellowship in Tamale last year.

The convicts-Kwame Dogyi, 28 and Obio Akwasi, 21 said to be cousins after murdering the man of God, Ebenezer Ocran and stole some valuable assets of his—a Samsung Galaxy phone, a Toyota Highlander 4×4 vehicle with registration number GN 1736-14 and an amount of GH₵ 200.

According to the facts presented in court by the prosecutor, Mr. Salia Quddus, at about 11 am on November 9, 2017, the two attacked Pastor Ocran at Kumbuyili.

The facts further established the pastor was stabbed with a knife in the chest and later hit with a pestle in the head—killing him instantly.

The body of the deceased was later locked in his room.

The police got to know about the murder after the assistant pastor of the End Time Believers Fellowship visited the residence of the deceased and found him dead.

In an attempt to sell the stolen car, the two cousins, took it for re-spraying and sold it at a price of GH¢10,000.

The police feigned interest in buying the car for further investigations. They bought the car from Dogyi and arrested him. After his arrest, he mentioned Akwasi as his accomplice who was also later arrested.
