2018 BECE: Govt to Cater For Registration Fees

The government will be bearing the cost of the registration fees for candidates in public schools who will be writing the 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

A statement dated 6 November 217, issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), signed by W. Addy-Lamptey, to all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Director of Education, said: “The registration of candidates for the BECE for School Candidates, 2018 is scheduled to take place from 13 November to 15 December, 2017.

“Please take note of the following issues: re-sitters are to register for the BECE for private candidates; the registration fee per candidate is GHS75 and applicable to candidate in private junior high schools. Government will absorb the registration fees for candidates in the public junior high schools.”

“Please ensure that the correct type of school (private or public) is indicated during the registration of the candidates as this has implication on payment of fees for the examination.

“Kindly provide the Council with a list of private and public junior high schools in your district to enable us validate input by the schools. The Council will nullify entries of private schools that select school type wrongly and thereby do not pay fees.”
