2020 Polls: I’m winning the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat – John Dumelo

A candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency John Dumelo has expressed confident in winning the upcoming national elections in December.

According to him, contrary to other observations, the constituency is not a safe haven for the NPP adding that, he will snatch the seat from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) with a 54% vote margin.

“I disagree with people saying that it [Ayawaso West Wuogon] is traditionally NPP. We won in 1992 and 1996 but we have come close to winning it, especially in 2012. In 2004 and 2008 we came close to winning it.”

“This is not like some Bantama seat, or a Mampong or an Ejisu seat that we know to be traditionally NPP. The Ayawaso West Wuogon is a seat we are going to win. I am not going to win it, it is the NDC that is going to win it,” he said in interview on Citi TV‘s Face to Face program.

When asked about the percentage margin he expects to win the seat with, Mr. Dumelo replied and said “a margin of 54”.

He argued that the constituency has retrogressed in the past few years hence the need for a leader who genuinely has the needs of constituents at heart and not only during elections.
