THE Circuit Court 1 in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region, has sentenced three Nigerians into prison for 20 years each, which amounts to 60 years in total.
The suspects, namely Francis Friday, Linus Agwazie, and Russell Ekenze, were found guilty of engaging in theft in some vehicles that were parked in Kumasi.
The Circuit Court 1 on July 24, 2025, found all the three suspects guilty on two counts preferred against them so it eventually sentenced them into prison In Hard Labour (IHL).
Prior to that, two other courts in Kumasi, the Atasemanso Circuit Court and Circuit Court 2 had also issued minimum sentences to the three Nigerians in other cases.
Since all their sentences are to run concurrently, the three convicts would stay in prison for 20 years each, which was the highest sentence, given to them by the Circuit Court 1.
DSP Godwin Ahianyo, of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Unit, in a press release, described the sentencing of the trio as good in the fight against crime.
According to him, the sentencing of the Nigerians was also an indication of the good working relationship between the judiciary and the police in the Ashanti Region.
DSP Ahianyo entreated the public to continue to feed the police with important information that would lead to the arrest of criminals before they even plan to strike.
