7 School Kids Feared Dead In Gory Accident at Tarkwa

Seven students have been reported dead in a gory accident involving a truck carrying manganese and a Mercedes Sprinter mini bus at Dompem, on the Agona Nkwanta – Tarkwa road in the Western region.

The accident occurred when they were returning from school. Reports have it that the school bus broke its shaft as it was negotiating a curve and thereby lost control due to the speed, it therefore collided with a tipper truck.

The injured according to reports were rushed to Apinto Hospital and Tarkwa government hospital where they are said to be given emergency care while those in critical condition have been referred to the Effia Nkwanta Government Hospital.

Some parents have thronged to the Apinto Hospital to identify and find out the condition in which their children are in but have been prevented by health personnel from entering the emergency centre due to the numbers.

The pupils of Learners’ Bridge School had closed from school and were being transported to their various homes in nearby communities when the accident occurred Monday.

Western Regional MTTD boss, Chief Supt Richard Appiah, who confirmed the accident to thepublisheronline.com but did not give details as the Police are yet to gather more information on the accident.

Available information to this portal indicates, the driver of the Sprinter bus is currently on admission at the New Tarkwa Government hospital, whiles the truck driver, Samual Agyei is in police custody at Dompim to assist in investigations.

Meanwhile, a team made up of the Municipal Chief Executive and the Municipal Education Director and other stakeholders have been visiting parents of the bereaved.
