$70M Hostel For KNUST

THE PERENNIAL accommodation problem at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, will soon belong to history, following the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s recent sod-cutting for the construction of an ultra-modern hostel to provide convenient accommodation for students.

Valued at US$70 million, the project, which is in four different blocks, is expected to be completed in eight months.

Safi Properties Limited, a Ghanaian property management and real estate construction firm, is financing the project.

The KNUST management is building the hostel to honour Otumfuo, the Chancellor of KNUST, for clocking 20 years on the Asante throne.

Nana Freduah Agyeman, CEO of Safi Properties Limited (SPL), disclosed that the hostel, which would be in nine floors, would be christened; “Safi Alumni Hostel”.

He urged potential investors to come on board to partner SPL to construct the hostel to help boost accommodation in the school.

Even though the Asantehene did not give any speech, he prayed that the construction works would be carried out smoothly within the stipulated time.
