Ada MP Commissions 4 Water Projects

The Member of Parliament for Ada Constituency, Mrs. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, has noted that access to potable drinking water is a major challenge to communities in her constituency. She said water shortage is so severe that many people in the constituency resort to the use of poor quality water for drinking and domestic use, adding that the performance of education in those areas is impeded by lack of access to potable water.

She made the observation at Tekpekope on Sunday, while commissioning the Tsekokpakpa Kope water project, which she undertook three months ago as part of her 25 communities water project in the constituency.

The MP, who said she was managing her Common Fund judiciously, stated that she hoped to extend pipe-borne water to 25 Communities before 2020, and had so far commissioned her 3rd water project for 3 communities namely, Okisitser Kope, Kuala Kpoyom and Terkper Kope. She promised to complete and commission the 5th one at Dameh Kope on 25th, October 2018.

Apart from those who are able to afford a gallon of pipe water from commercial water tankers at GHC7.00, all residents of the 4 communities used to share the few ponds available with cattle and pigs.

She has advised them to keep the environment clean at all times to forestall the occurrence of cholera and other diseases.

Hon. Ghansah stressed: “Look after the facility and make sure you use the water with care. Turn off the taps when not in use, continue to conserve water and settle the little bills that would come, so that the project would continue to run and provide you with the service”.
