Addai Nimoh Runs for President 2020

Campaign posters advertising Mr. Francis Addai-Nimoh as a presidential candidate on the ticket of the New Patriotic party (NPP) for the 2020 elections has sparked some mockery, spite and condemnation after they appeared at strategic places across the country over the weekend.

Mr. Addai-Nimoh is a former New Patriotic (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region and contender in the party’s presidential primaries in 2007 and was seen to be supportive of the party’s campaign in the 2016 polls.

After the party’s victory, nothing much or rather very little has been heard from him until the ill-timed posters popped up advertising his presidential ambitions that has largely been described as premature.

Since the posters appeared, they have generated much public uproar but interestingly, Francis Addai-Nimoh has not been heard to have distanced himself from them or confirmed them to be from his camp.

THE PUBLISHER also tried without success to reach him for clarification yesterday before going to bed.

The NPP has just concluded its regional elections and is at the threshold of holding polls to elect its national officers.

Per the party structure, it is only after the national leaders have been sworn into office that issues of candidates for the next polls would be planned, nominations opened, vetting done, and then candidates announced.

It therefore seems alien and bizarre for the poster of a presidential hopeful to go public by this time when the entire party if focused and rallying behind its current leader and incumbent President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

THE PUBLISHER is keenly monitoring the development.
