Afua Asantewaa: I Didn’t Hide My Sing-A-Thon Results

Ghanaian entrepreneur and media personality, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has explained that, the last thing she would do is to be dishonest and hide such an important result from her Guinness World Records attempt despite it being positive or negative from her fans, Ghanaians and people across the globe in general.

She explained in an interview on the Breakfast Show on GTV on Monday that, she has been very honest to Ghanaians regarding the results, adding that, she lost her login details to her GWR account for which reason she could not break the news of the outcome of her attempt.

She asserted that she lodged a complaint to Guinness and added evidence to that effect, urging them to review her account because she still could not access it and needed the official documents to make a statement.

“My fear actually was not being able to achieve what I did, rather than letting people know whether I made it or not. There are so many things I have tried in the past that I willingly embrace failure that brought me this far so what is this that I will hide. If I have to do this a million times to get it right, with or without anybody’s permission, I will gladly do so why would I hide the results from the public. No way, I am not the type that will come crying, it’s like you’re looking for public sympathy.

“The same thing happened when we were attacked at home three days before I started and when I said it after you know the response. I’m a broadcast journalist, I know that if I don’t have the fact, I will not say it. You might think that I’m here fabricating stories, you can ask them (Guinness World Records) if I did not complain to them about my account. They’ll equally give you the same answer I just made” she explained.

She continued, “I don’t think I disappointed, everybody has his or her notions and we leave in an era where if one person sparks up something it catches fire without the actual victim been given the opportunity to express his or herself. I would say that there is no way I would hold on to a result such as this, I am a very strong personality and I believe in not giving up, and regardless of the outcome being it successful or not, I would have still shared with Ghanaians anyways, I spoke about miscommunication with GWR, it had to do with my login account which I have no access. I don’t have an official document to post on my social media to prove my disqualification letter. This is the reason they went ahead of me to comment on somebody’s post and it went viral. I have not disappointed Ghanaians, the only disappointment here is maybe they didn’t hear it from me first which I apologies. It beyond my control. I know that in due time they will get to understand and believe my story.”
