The Health Minister, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called on the Ghana Medical Association to support government’s renewed health sector reforms aimed at addressing long-standing inequalities in healthcare delivery.
He addressed the Association at its 67th Annual Conference, themed “Strengthening Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) for sustainable healthcare delivery”.
He stressed that the government is implementing initiatives such as the decentralised posting of doctors, the Free Primary Health Care policy, and the newly established Ghana Medical Trust Fund to ensure quality care reaches underserved communities across the country.
Hon. Akandoh further urged the GMA to play a central role in strengthening public–private collaboration. He noted that the government plans to open selected Agenda 111 facilities and key service areas, including diagnostics and primary care, to strategic partnerships.
The Minister emphasised that strong professional cooperation drives the success of these reforms. He added that the government views the GMA as an indispensable partner in building a fair, people-centred, and sustainable healthcare system.
