Amewu Woos Investors into Ghana’s Mining Industry

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, John Peter Amewu is leading a nine-member Ghanaian delegation to attract business opportunities in the mining sector as part of the 2018 Mining Indaba Conference which opens in Cape Town, South Africa, tomorrow[February 5, 2018] .

A statement from the ministry copied to Citi Business News said Amewu will speak on the topic: “sustaining Ghana’s mining industry” at the conference.

He will also serve as a key panel member in the session on: Inter-governmental forum for all African and Non-African Governments to among others discuss issues around, investment, transparency and International Trade.

He is expected to take the opportunity to engage key industry captains on the prospects of mining in Ghana and the way forward for stakeholders, notably how to upscale local content while addressing some key challenges in the sector including managing illegal mining.

The African Mining Indaba is the largest investment conference on mining in Africa.

This annual conference is dedicated to the successful capitalization and development of mining interests in Africa and it unites thousands of investors, mining companies, governments and other stakeholders from around the world with the goal of advancing mining on the continent.

The delegation from Ghana includes some staff of the Minerals Commission, Chamber of Mines and the Minerals Development Fund secretariat.
