Anas #12: Mahama Didn’t Chop $8m – Adams

The National Organiser of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adams has refuted allegations that former President John Dramani Mahama accepted some $8million for the 2016 elections.

Mr Adams’ comment follows media reports that linked Mr Mahama to the yet-to-be premiered Number 12 exposé by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas in which the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is investigating Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi for corruption.

The reports claimed that an Arabian investor at the centre of the investigative piece, allegedly gave the then-governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) $8 million to support Mr Mahama’s re-election bid.

However, Mr Adams said in a statement that: “Neither the NDC nor our candidate, John Dramani Mahama, received any amount from an unknown person”.

The statement released on Tuesday, 5 June 2018, said: “This lie and many desperate acts over the last few days cannot and will not exonerate President Akufo-Addo from the various acts of wanton corruption and the revelation that Nyantakyi is captured on the said tape making, including asking for various sums of money from people on his behalf”.
