Ghanaian charismatic-preacher, founder and leader of the Action Chapel International Ministry, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has indicated that, the only thing Africa need is visionary and selfless leaders to steer the continent away from stagnation and backwardness.
The global preacher expressed concern over persistent political and economic setbacks in several African countries, despite the continent’s abundant natural resources and potential.
“When you look at some of the crises on our continent, it just doesn’t make sense. I don’t want to mention names of countries, but it just doesn’t make sense for us to retrogress with all that we have,” he lamented on The Point of View with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV.
Duncan-Williams emphasized that Africa’s struggles are not due to a lack of resources but a lack of purposeful leadership.
He pointed to Ghana’s rich deposits of gold, oil, and cocoa as examples of untapped potential that could transform the country if properly managed.
“There’s no reason why our currency cannot do better. With the gold reserves we have and the oil and cocoa, we can do better. We just need visionary leaders and selfless leaders.”
He warned that without a change in leadership mindset, Africa risks missing out on the benefits of its own wealth and the aspirations of its people.
According to him, progress can only be achieved if leaders focus less on personal gain and more on national development.
This comes after Archbishop prayers for the Ghanaian economy and asked for more blessings for the youth to enable them travel outside the country for relaxation and not to hustle as has been the trademark for long.
He made this prophetic declaration during the international deionizational Christian service held to mark the first leg of Ghana’s official National Day of Prayers and Thanksgiving observed at the Forecourt of the State House on Tuesday July 1, 2025.
“I look forward, in my lifetime, to seeing a new Ghana; a Ghana where our sons and daughters would not line up for visa in any embassy to travel out of the shores of this country for greener pastures but that our sons and our daughters would be born, raised, schooled, educated and live and work and flourish and thrive within the borders of Ghana and would only travel outside for vacation and holidays but not to go and seek greener pastures”.
Duncan-Williams explained: “I want to believe God that the President was very prophetic in declaring this day as a day of National Prayer and Thanksgiving because prophetically, being the first day of the seventh month of the year, I believe it is a prophetic proclamation that every vicious cycle that has held this nation back in the years gone by is over.
The cycle breaks in the name of Jesus and if you believe it, please put your hands together and shout yes
“As I reflected, I remembered that in the 50s and 70s Ghana was ahead of Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and even China, we were ahead of them and I started meditating and suddenly I asked why has the gold become dimed or dark, this state of retrogressing must be reversed under the leadership of President Mahama”, Duncan-Williams added.
