Asaase Radio responds to Patrick Yaw Boamah

Asaase Radio wishes to address the recent statements made by Hon Patrick Yaw Boamah, Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, on his official Twitter (X) handle, concerning alleged mischievous publications by our media outlet.

Asaase Radio places paramount importance on factual, ethical, and responsible journalism.

We understand the Honourable MP’s concerns regarding the accuracy and timing of information, particularly during a sensitive electoral period.

We therefore wish to provide a clear and factual chronology of events related to our publications on 11 July 2025, to clarify any misconceptions.

On Friday, 11 July 2025:

At 10:36 AM, Asaase Radio published an article on its website (https://asaaseradio.com/) based on an interview with Hon Patrick Boamah.

At 10:52 AM, a corresponding video excerpt from the interview was published on Asaase Radio’s Facebook page.

At 12:09 PM, a quote card based on the interview was created and approved internally.

At 1:16 PM, the quote card was published on our Facebook page.

Our internal records and timestamp logs confirm that all these publications were made before any reports of violence at the Ablekuma North polling stations began to emerge later that afternoon.

It is important to state that Hon Patrick Boamah was accurately and honestly reflecting the situation on the ground at the time and in the areas he had personally observed.

He should neither blame himself nor media outlets, including Asaase Radio, for reporting his comments prior to the unfortunate events that occurred later—events that were clearly beyond his or our control.

We acknowledge that on election days, information can evolve rapidly, and perceptions may shift as events unfold. We believe the Honourable MP may have come across the quote card after those later developments and thus understandably interpreted its timing differently.
