Ashgold Snub GFA’s Gala

ASHANTIGOLD FC has served notice that they will not take part in this season’s invitational gala competition proposed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the miners, Cudjoe Fianoo, who disclosed this to the media recently, said the gala competition would not serve any meaningful purpose for his club.

“I have told the staff at the Ashgold office that they should not waste their pen, paper and energy to reply to GFA’s invitation to us to play in the gala.

“The gala will not in any way impact positively on the progress and the forward march of Ashantigold FC, so we will not take part in it”, he told Nhyira FM.

The celebrated football administrator also lamented the country’s poor performance in FIFA-organized football matches in 2017, which, to him, should be of greater concern to handlers of the GFA.

“Ghana football took a nose dive last year. We could not qualify for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup and that is a huge setback.

“Our representatives in the Africa Champions League and Confederations Cup also performed abysmally during the year under review”, he noted.
