Assist Us with Computers – Gomoa Manso Students Appeal

Over three hundred pupils at Gomoa D/A Basic and JHS have one thing to share- a single desktop computer.

This has made partaking in the Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) examination a great challenge for Junior High School students at Gomoa Manso.

With the schools current population at 335- from primary one to JHS three, it is fair to conclude that many can’t appreciate the use of a computer’s mouse- and the students are left with barely a week to write their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

This came to light during a visit by the Ghana News Agency which witnessed desk top computer surrounded by several students seeking to undertake their ICT practical studies.

Mr Isaac Baido, the Assembly member for Gomoa Manso Electoral Area, who spoke with the GNA, said all efforts made by the District Assembly to provide computers for the school to promote teaching and learning have proved futile.

Nana Kwame Arhin, the Mankrado of Gomoa Manso, said the community lacked a number of basic social amenities but the most pressing one was the provision of computers for the school, especially for BECE candidates.

He appealed to government and philanthropic organisations to urgently come to their aid.
