Bawumia Boy, MCE Grilled …Over Asawase NPP MP Seat

Two staunch New Patriotic Party (NPP) members have been vetted by the party over the upcoming Asawase Constituency NPP parliamentary elections.

They are Manaf Ibrahim, an aide to the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, and the current Asokore Mampong Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Alhaji Alidu Seidu.

Manaf Ibrahim, it would be recalled, was denied nomination forms by the Asawase NPP, but managed to secure the forms from the party headquarters in Accra.

Reports said the committee, headed by Rita Asobayiri, successfully vetted Manaf Ibrahim, after series of tough questions.

The vetting committee was tasked to vet party people that had showed intentions and commitment to contest for the party’s orphan seats in the Ashanti region.

The event, which took place at the Hasta Lodge on Saturday, also saw Joseph Owusu as the only person being vetted for the Sekyere Afram Plains Seat.

The committee also vetted Salisu Bamba and Gifty Ndoma for the Sekyeredumase Constituency seat without any incident.

A party insider hinted THE NEW PUBLISHER that the results of the vetting would be announced very soon for the aspirants to know their fate.

In a related development, grapevine information (though unconfirmed) indicate that Manaf and Gifty Ndoma, could be disqualified.

Meanwhile, the paper gathered that the Ashanti Regional NPP has decided to hold the primaries for the three orphan constituencies on September 27, 2019.
