Becomes Dishearting Seeing Party Elders Suffering – Bagbin

The Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, says nothing makes him feel so sad than when he sees members, especially, the elders of the umbrella family, in poor condition.

The NDC, he noted, despite having been in power for sometime, has done little to improve on the welfare of its members. This, he added, is having a heavy toll on the party.

However, he said, all is not lost since the 2020 general elections will present them another opportunity to make this better for all when the party wins power.

“It pains my heart that from 1992 up to date, the members of the NDC are even poorer than they started. And if you look at the cadres, if you look at the founding fathers; if you look at the former office holders like Members of Parliament, DCEs and the rest, sometimes you ask yourself is it worth it? We are getting something wrong. We are not taking care of ourselves”, he noted.

Interacting with Sefwi Juaboso based Radio Rainbow, Saturday, September 22, 2018, the longest serving Member of Parliament who is aspiring for the flagbearer position of the party said a vote for him will bring to an end all the suffering members of the umbrella family are going through.

“I am proposing ways and means of taking good care of ourselves lawfully. This is because you cannot have good democracy without good political parties. You cannot have strong democracies without having strong political parties and you cannot have a good government without that culture being built in the party.

So, I am going to lead the party and lead the country to be able to do this. Because one of the serious challenges confronting Africa is leadership failure. There are a lot of things that we are doing that are wasteful and I believe as a President, I will definitely cut them off and re-focus on where I believe will better the lot of Ghanaians than some individuals”, he noted.

Hon. Bagbin touched base in the Western Region, Friday, September 21, 2018, to continue his interaction with the grassroot members of the NDC.

His visit follows an earlier tour to the Volta and some parts of the Northern Regions to seek the mandate of the delegates when the party goes to the polls on December 7, 2018, to elect a flagbearer to lead the party for election 2020.

Moments after his interaction with the radio station, the Nadowli/Kaleo lawmaker proceeded to pay homage to Nananom, the Chief Imam and the Zongo Chief and also asked them to pray for him as he seeks to be the party’s flagbearer or Presidential candidate for election 2020.
