Bediako Tipped To Oust Wontumi

ASARE BEDIAKO, the Asokwa Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been tipped to become the next Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party.

Scores of the NPP delegates in the region, which is the party’s strongest fortress in the country, are said to have declared their unflinching support for him.

The party delegates, THE PUBLISHER gathered, perceive Asare Bediako as the suitable person to lead the NPP to help the party to retain political power in 2020.

Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional NPP chairman’s position is currently being held by Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who is known in political circles as ‘Chairman Wontumi”.

But credible information from the party in the region indicates that it looks likely that the leadership of the party would be changed, this year.

NPP Delegates

Some of the party delegates that spoke to the paper on condition of anonymity stated that the party’s leadership in the region is sharply divided.

They accused the current party leadership of poor leadership style, which has created cracks in the party, notably among the regional executives.

They said the party may not perform well in the region by way of votes if the current party chairman is retained in office, therefore their support for Asare Beiako.

The NPP delegates described Asare Bediako as a unifier, an experienced politician, a visionary and a hard-working person to lead the party into affluence.

“We even begged Asare Bediako to come and contest and rescue the party from the being destroyed by the current chairman”, one of the delegates said.

Asare Bediako is the longest serving NPP constituency chairman in the Ashanti region, having served the party faithfully for several decades.
