Beef with Sista Afia made me more popular – Freda Rhymes

Ghanaian female rapper, Freda Baffour Awuah, well known as Freda Rhymz has admitted to the fact that, her musical ‘beef’ with colleague musician Sista Afia got her sinking career rising up to the highest level.

According to her, since she took advantage of the ‘beef’ Sista Afia started, she has had a massive following on social media and especially has given her much recognition in the music Industry.

Sista-afia released a diss song she titled WMT which sparked female rappers in the country to release songs to counter her claims in her diss song weeks ago. Freda Rhymes and Eno capitalized to create buzz and that gave the women in the industry the needed attention.

Speaking in an interview with Halifax Ansah-Addo on Okay FM Friday morning monitored by thepublisheronline.com, Freda Rhymes acknowledged that her rap career had taken a low and so she had to take advantage of Sista Afia’s shots in order to get the numbers.

“During the lockdown time, we did some noise all over. I got so much attention through that noise. That was the beef with Sista Afia, everything happens for a reason. Things were that slow during the lockdown period and I decided to do some freestyles to entertain my fans but then, it turned out to be something hot, back and forth between me and Sista Afia and few other female artistes in the Industry.

“But apart from that, we’ve released a couple of songs and so far, so good. I can’t denied the fact that, the beef helped me. It shaped my career positively. We didn’t plan for it to happen but as it did and I took advantage over it, the numbers kept increasing. A lot of people who didn’t knew about me got to know more about me then” she indicated.

When asked if it was good for one to get emotional during lyrical battles, she said, no.“It is not a good thing, it’s using words to get to one another so if you are not able to detach your emotions from it, you will be hurt.”
