Better Days Ahead for Ghana ― Nana Assures

PRESIDENT NANA Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured that, going by the positive economic indices, there would be a massive economic transformation in the country very soon.

He therefore urged the citizenry to remain hopeful and expert pragmatic changes in their lives in the not-too-distant future.

“All the indicators are looking positive, which clearly shows that very soon the economy will boom for the people to experience it in their lives.

“GDP has increased from 3.6 percent in 2016 to 8.5 percent now and inflation has also been reduced from 15.4 percent to 10.4 percent during my reign.

“The currency, which was struggling under the past regime, has also been stabilized and the industrial sector is also looking very positive”, he said.

President Akufo-Addo was speaking during this year’s May Day Celebration held at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, yesterday.

Government, he said, would continue to create a conducive environment for the private sector to grow, and thereby help absorb some of the unemployed youth in the country.

According to him, it is the vision of his government to create wealth for the citizenry by modernizing agriculture, adding that his ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ agenda, is non-negotiable.

President Akufo-Addo strongly condemned the child labour menace, which seems to be on the rise in the country, despite the many efforts to curb it.

He said the practice impedes the smooth development of the child and in turn affects the quality of the country’s human resource base.

He urged Ghanaians to solidly support government and other stakeholders to ensure that child labour of all forms becomes a thing of the past.

Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
