Black Bombers B Depart to Hungary for Boxing Tournament

Six boxers and four officials of the Junior National Boxing team, Black Bombers B, have departed Accra to Hungary to participate in the Bocskai Istvan Memorial International Boxing Tournament in Debrecen, Hungary.

The tournament, which is under the auspices of the Hungary Boxing Association would see the Ghana team, which includes Shakul Samed heading straight into the tournament, which runs from 6th -11th February, 2018.

In a release copied to GNA Sports, the leader of delegation, Abdul Samadu Mohammed -Vice president of Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) and Coach Charles Quartey, would be in charge of the young boxers as they get the necessary exposure in competitions and to hone their budding skills in preparation to take over from the regular Black Bombers team, who are currently camping in Cape Coast ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia in April.

Samadu Mohammed thanked the Hungarian embassy in Ghana for helping in getting the team to the tournament, which to the GBF comes at the right time for the young boxers to gain much needed international exposure and to train and fight with better facilities.

Samadu Mohammed further urged the Hungarian embassy to help get more of such tournaments for the team.

“We know how good they are, we believe they would win gold medals to make Ghana proud and also get us invited to more such competitions in future,” he said.
