Black Star Experience Not Targeting BHIM Concert – Rex Omar

The Coordinator of the Black Star Experience, Rex Omar, has denied claims that the upcoming Black Star Experience concert was deliberately scheduled to clash with Stonebwoy’s annual BHIM Concert, both set for December 26, 2025.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM on October 26, 2025, Rex Omar explained that the event’s date had not been confirmed when initial plans were made. He said the team had discussed three possible dates before finally deciding on December 26.

“What happened was that the date was never finalised. We had proposed three different dates for the event, and the final date was agreed on the 26th. So, when the calendar came out indicating that the event would take place on the 29th, I quickly made them correct the mistake,” he clarified.

Rex Omar rejected suggestions that the concert was planned to undermine Stonebwoy’s event, stressing that he had no knowledge of the BHIM Concert date when the Black Star Experience was scheduled.

“So, all this talk of the event being an act of sabotage against Stonebwoy is false. I didn’t even know Stonebwoy had his show on the 26th,” he stated.

Addressing further speculations, Rex Omar said that Independence Square was chosen as the venue because it was the only space large enough to host the concert. He also revealed that the event would not be free since there was no government budget to support it.

“We were all here when the president said that the budget allocation for the Black Star Experience would be for next year. But I cannot just sit down and say that because there’s no budgetary allocation, we can’t host anything. So, the event is ticketed to ensure that we get some funding,” he explained.

The discussion about the timing of the event resurfaced after earlier rumours in 2025 suggested that Stonebwoy had offered to collaborate with the Black Star Experience but was turned down. However, Rex Omar clarified in a previous interview with GhanaWeb on September 5 that the artiste never formally approached the Secretariat, and no collaboration request was rejected.

With both major shows now confirmed for December 26, fans are hopeful that the two events will take place peacefully and add excitement to the festive celebrations.
