Breaking: James Boanuh Appointed As Acting IGP

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed the Inspector General of Police, Mr David Asante-Appeatu to proceed on leave with immediate effect.

The directive comes ahead of his retirement from the Ghana Police Service on  August 14, 2019. The President thanked him for his many years of service to the Country, and wished him well in his retirement.

Meanwhile the Deputy Inspector General of the Police Service, Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh has been appointed to serve as head until a substantive IGP is appointed.

David Asante Apeatu first became IGP of the Ghana Police Service on January 25, 2017.

Before his appointment, he was the head of the General ICT Department at the Police Headquarters as well as the head of the Marine Police.

He had also served as the Director-General in charge of Research and Director-General of the Police CID
