The Ghana Police Service has put a GH₵50,000 reward on the head of a man identified as Hoyeefi, the alleged mastermind behind a series of coordinated robberies in Nkaseim, Ahafo Region, last December.
In a public notice issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on February 1, 2026, police identified Hoyeefi as the leader of the gang responsible for the December 2, 2025 attacks.
The coordinated robberies targeted multiple locations in Nkaseim, including the Nkaseim Police Station, Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, Kobby Gold Buying Company, and the Asutifi Rural Bank area.
According to the CID, “investigations have identified suspect Hoyeefi as the leader of the robbery gang responsible for the coordinated attacks on the Nkaseim Police Station, Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company, Kobby Gold Buying Company, and the Asutifi Rural Bank area on December 2, 2025.”
The announcement, signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer for the CID, also appealed directly to the public for help, emphasizing the reward.
“The Ghana Police Service is offering a reward of GH₵50,000.00 to any person who provides credible information that leads to the arrest of suspect Hoyeefi,” the statement read.
Police are urging anyone with knowledge of Hoyeefi’s whereabouts to “contact the nearest police station or call the Police emergency numbers 191, 18555 or 112.”
The December 2nd attacks caused widespread alarm in Nkaseim. Armed assailants blocked the Goaso-Tepa road before launching simultaneous raids on the police station, the cocoa and gold buying companies, and the rural bank. During the robberies, they made away with two AK-47 rifles from the police station and also undisclosed sums of money from the bank.
They also stole GH¢14,000 from the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company and GH¢12,000 from the Kobby Gold Buying Company. In the course of the robbery, an employee of the Adwumapa Cocoa Buying Company was shot and sustained injuries.
The Police Service has commended the officers involved in the operation and assured the public of continued patrols along the highway to prevent further criminal activity.
Following thorough investigations, the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit has already arrested five suspects linked to the attacks. On January 16, 2026, Mutar Kofi, a 35-year-old commercial tricycle rider, was arrested at a location near Nkaseim known as “Ata ne Ata.” Kofi admitted his involvement in the robberies. Subsequent arrests included Mahamadu Sagio (45) in Nkaseim, Shaibu Issah Jallo, alias Jibo (28) in Chereponi, Abdul Suleman (40) near Karaga in the Northern Region, and Bukari Sulley, alias Tailor (25), a trader in Alaba, Kumasi, on January 25.
Authorities say the manhunt continues for three other suspects, including Dauda, Mohammed Ali, and Hoyeefi, who is believed to possess the stolen firearms used in the December attacks. Police have promised that Hoyeefi and his accomplices will face “the full rigours of the law.”
The escalation of the search for Hoyeefi, combined with the cash reward, is seen as a strong signal from the Ghana Police Service that violent crime will not be tolerated and that public cooperation is vital in bringing criminals to justice.
Residents in Nkaseim and surrounding areas have been advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Police emphasize that even small tips can play a key role in apprehending wanted suspects.
In similar development, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, last week, revealed an arrest of seven suspects in connection with a highway robbery attack on a member of the Council of State which happened along the Tamale–Buipe Highway.
