Brogya Genfi pledges full support for Kenneth Gilbert Adjei

Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, has congratulated Kenneth Gilbert Adjei on his appointment as Ghana’s substantive Minister for Defence, describing the new minister as a trusted colleague whose leadership will strengthen the country’s defence architecture.

Mr. Genfi, in a congratulatory message posted on Facebook, expressed confidence in the ability of Mr. Adjei to bring his experience, tactical understanding and firm leadership to bear on the country’s defence and national security responsibilities.

“Congratulations to Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei on your appointment as Minister responsible for Defence,” Mr. Genfi wrote, describing their relationship as one built on “trust and brotherhood.”

He said he had no doubt that the newly appointed minister’s tactical acumen and leadership qualities would contribute significantly to strengthening Ghana’s defence architecture.

“Your tactical acumen and firm leadership will continue to strengthen our defence architecture,” he stated, while congratulating Mr. Adjei once again and referring to him as “Boss.”

The appointment of Mr. Adjei by President John Dramani Mahama places him at the helm of the Ministry of Defence at a time when Ghana continues to navigate a changing regional security environment and growing demands on its security institutions.

The Defence Ministry is responsible for providing policy direction and administrative oversight for the Ghana Armed Forces, with the minister playing a key role in coordinating government policy on national defence and military affairs.

Mr. Genfi’s message also underscores the working relationship between the two ministers, who are expected to collaborate closely in the discharge of their respective responsibilities at the ministry.

With Mr. Adjei now assuming the substantive ministerial portfolio, attention will be focused on the priorities he sets for the ministry and how he intends to work with the military leadership and other stakeholders to address emerging security challenges.

The Deputy Defence Minister’s public endorsement is therefore seen as an early indication of his readiness to work with the new minister as the government seeks to strengthen Ghana’s defence capabilities.

Mr. Genfi’s reference to their relationship as one founded on trust and brotherhood further highlights the importance of cohesion within the ministry, particularly given the sensitive nature of defence and national security matters.

Mr. Adjei is expected to work closely with the Ghana Armed Forces and relevant government agencies to advance the country’s defence interests and ensure that Ghana’s security institutions remain prepared to respond to both domestic and external threats.
