Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Lil Win, was named Best Actor in Africa by the Burkinabe Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency David Kabré.
The award was presented during the premiere of the movie “Captain Ibrahim Traore (The Last African Hero),” which tells the story of Burkina Faso’s revolutionary leader.
The event which took place at SG Mall in Kumasi, Ghana, brought together diplomats, filmmakers, and movie lovers, all eager to experience the result of a joint effort between Ghana and Burkina Faso.
The film, which features both Ghanaian and Burkinabe talent, was praised for its powerful message and cultural impact. Lil Win, who played the lead role, received high praise from Ambassador Kabré for his emotional and skilled performance.
“By honouring Lil Win, we celebrate not only his talent but also the strength of African storytelling,” the ambassador said. He added that such awards help highlight the growth of African cinema on the international stage.
Lil Win, known for his work in both acting and music, thanked the ambassador and the audience for the honour.
“This award motivates me to keep sharing our stories with truth and passion,” he said.
He also noted that African stories can connect countries and promote unity across the continent.
The event also showed the strong cultural ties between Ghana and Burkina Faso. Producers and crew from both countries worked together on the film, showing the power of teamwork in promoting Pan-African cinema.
