Cecilia Marfo Losing Followers Over Dressing Style – Broda Sammy

Gospel singer Broda Sammy has advised evangelist Cecilia Marfo to reconsider certain aspects of her ministry, especially regarding looks and appearance, to attract and keep more congregants.

Speaking on Adom FM on March 16, 2026, he suggested that the perceived decline in her ministry is partly linked to strict rules on dressing and lifestyle.

Broda Sammy noted that today’s youth value personal style and self-expression, and rigid expectations around appearance could make them feel judged or restricted.

He believes that by being more flexible and relatable in how she presents herself, Cecilia Marfo could encourage greater participation and engagement, particularly among younger members of her church.

He further argued that some practices often criticised by certain evangelists, such as wearing makeup or jeans, should not automatically be labelled as sinful.

In his view, these are cultural and personal choices that, if embraced, could make the church more welcoming and relatable to a wider audience.

Broda Sammy also warned that churches risk losing members if they fail to adjust their approach to ministry. He stressed the importance of adapting to changing times while still maintaining core spiritual values, noting that flexibility in nonessential areas could help draw more people in.

“Cecilia Marfo’s ministry has declined, and this decline isn’t due to any external forces. Her style of dressing is turning people away.

If she expects her congregation to dress like that, it simply won’t happen, because those who used to dress like that are no longer around. If she continues on this path, fewer people will attend her church.

“Today’s women prefer to dress up and enjoy life. The makeup some people criticize is simply makeup.

Things that could actually help the ministry are sometimes wrongly labelled as sins by some evangelists. They used to say women shouldn’t wear jeans, but during deliverance wearing jeans can even be more appropriate, otherwise certain parts of the body may become exposed,” he said.

He added, “If we don’t adapt our methods for winning souls, people will eventually stop coming to church. So I urge Cecilia Marfo to consider this: if she wants more people to attend her church, she should change her style of dressing and see how it impacts attendance.”
