Spirit filled musician and songwriter, Celestine Donkor has disclosed her commitment to spreading the gospel beyond the stage, revealing that she actively preaches in schools and even public transport.
“I remember on December 31st, I hopped into a trotro and started preaching. There was a woman who was just shocked! When I got down, she also got down, even though that was not her stop, just to bless me and tell me how much the message touched her, God has given me fame, but I believe it’s for preaching the gospel” she said in an interview on Hitz FM.
She added, “I am not your regular celebrity; I am an evangelist; I am a preacher. School is the right place to start evangelism. Back in secondary school, we had evangelists visit us, and it really shaped me. So I believe we must reach young people with the gospel while they are still in school”.
She explained that she started an initiative called Campus Gospel, which focuses on taking the gospel to students in primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions.
Celestine Donkor also revealed that her Celestial Praise concert is in its 11th edition and continues to grow.
She expressed gratitude to Victory Bible Church, which has supported her ministry by providing a venue with the necessary equipment, making it more affordable for her team.
In addition, she revealed that her passion for nurturing young talents led her to establish Celestial Breed, a gospel music group composed of young singers, many of whom have been part of her backing vocal team or are fresh, undiscovered voices.
“I get a lot of messages from young people who want to be mentored. It’s looking like I cannot do it one by one, so we decided to put them together under Celestial Breed. I’m actually looking for 100. I want to have the biggest choir in Ghana,” she confidently stated.
According to her, the group is a platform where young singers are trained and given the opportunity to lead songs when they meet the required standard.
“By the grace of God, we’ve been able to release our first single, ‘You Are Amazing,’ and as and when a member is ready, they get to lead a song and we release it,” she added.
Celestine Donkor currently has about 20 members in the group but has a bigger vision.
The gospel artiste has always been intentional about helping upcoming musicians and has featured unknown talents in her past songs adding that, Celestial Breed is her way of making this initiative official and structured.
