When Confused Leaders Lead Confused Supporters

Today’s editorial piece is a sequel of Monday’s write up bothering the senseless mayhem that happened at Odododiodoo on Sunday, October, 25 2020.

Truth be told, news that supporters of NPP and NDC in Jamestown in the Odododiodio constituency clashed after a supposed peace walk turned bloody beats our imagination.

Probably, what has triggered the paper’s second opinion stems from the recent pronouncements from the supposed leaders of these supporters.

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the area, Nii Lante Bannerman has been quoted as having stated that the incumbent Member of Parliament for Odododiodoo, Nii Lante Vanderpuye cannot be a man more than him.

Nii Lante Bannerman further stated during a news conference on Monday that Nii Lante Vanderpuye cannot be trusted when he (Nii Lante Vanderpuye) says he is in support of dialogue as part of efforts towards brokering lasting peace for the area.

For us at THE NEW PUBLISHER, these two ‘leaders’ are just not serious and cannot be described as leaders.

They are behaving like Adam and Eve back in the Garden of Eden in view of the fact they are simply shifting blame from one person to the other.

What is even annoying is that both of them are playing innocent each, pointing accusing fingers at each other for doing this or that!

If these two want to be leaders of a constituency built on the policy of “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth”, then we dare say that the two confused “Nii Lante’s” don’t merit the votes of the people after succeeding in pitching the supporters against each other.

Sadly, the two of them, whoever wins the December polls would be called “honourable” irrespective of how they shamefully rode on the back of political violence to get into Parliament.

It is the unequivocal opinion of this paper that   Bannerman and Nii Lante Vanderpuye must be picked up by the police and forced to sign a bond of good behaviour.

In fact, they should be allowed to sign a bond and pledge that if violence continues to erupt in the constituency, they will both be jailed.

The two of them are not in any way above the laws of the country for which reason they should break the peace and quite of the area with impunity.

More so, the Ga Traditional Council must invite the two in front of the Police Commander of the Area and reprimand them for this rather shameful act.

What more do we expect when two confused leaders lead confused supporters…?
