After series of investigations it became known to us that one of my men, who works directly under me, was involved. Corporal Gasty Seidu Yahaya, together with two others in town, masterminded that robbery so we proceeded to arrest them and they are currently at the Regional headquarters in Koforidua. ”

“They tied and locked the guards in a room after butchering one of them with a machete. There was blood all over the place, so we quickly rushed them to the Akuse government hospital, where one of them was treated and discharged, but it took some weeks for the other, who was severely injured, to be discharged”.

A situation report (SITREP) from the police command on the arrest, sited the paper reads:

Officers at the Somanya police station, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed to the paper that Corporal Seidu was transferred from Somanya to Akuse about two years ago on suspicion of leaking sensitive security information to robbery suspects in the area.

They hinted that, apart from terrorizing residents with an unregistered 35-round automatic pistol in his possession, the ring leader always enjoyed the support of his former bosses, such that he could vacate his duty post for a whole month without any query from his superiors.

Apart from his routine policing job, Cpl. Seidu boasts of owning a construction company and a glass-cutting firm, both at Somanya.
