Council of State Member, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple Writes…

My attention was drawn to an editorial in circulation by the people’s writer, Kay Codjoe. I found it harmless and rather cautious, so I reached out and had a calm discussion with him for clarity.

In our engagement, he emphasized my position on the Council of State as a young man who challenged the status quo and earned the mandate to represent the good people of the Volta Region.

As controversial as his message may sound, the writer dares me to be the new Ghanaian. It is a challenge I have accepted and a cause I am ready to champion for God and country.

Dear Kay, thank you as well for your thoughtful message and for the sincerity with which you engage national issues. I appreciate the candour, the scrutiny, and the intention behind your words. Dialogue of this nature strengthens our democracy, and I welcome it.

I am also grateful that cooperation and open engagement have allowed clarity where there was concern. That clarity has reminded me of the weight of my responsibilities and the expectations that come with serving on the Council of State.

It has renewed my commitment to contribute meaningfully not only to the fight against illegal mining but to every matter that touches governance, accountability, and the wellbeing of our Republic.

I want to assure all the good people of the Volta Region who I represent on the Council of State and all my friends, family and business relations that I am and have always been committed to the highest standards of integrity in my dealings to help develop our beloved region and Ghana my motherland.

Indeed, Public Service demands transparency, discipline, and a constant willingness to reflect and improve. I take that seriously. I remain guided by the duty to offer the President sound counsel, to uphold the integrity of my office, and to ensure that my experience serves Ghana and not myself.

Thank you once again for raising difficult questions in good faith. It is through such honest engagement that we strengthen the nation we all care for.

God Bless Our Homeland, Ghana.
