Denyame residents cry over car crashes

RESIDENTS OF Denyame, one of the plush-looking neighbourhoods in Kumasi, have expressed concern over increasing car accidents in the area, lately.

According to them, a certain junction that leads to four different roads in the serene neighbourhood has been recording vehicular crashes on a daily basis, and it’s increasingly becoming dangerous.

They stated that the four junction, which has become accident prone, is located few meters away from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Guest House at Denyame.

The concerned neighbours said there are no traffic lights in the busy four junction and they believe that is contributing to the frequent vehicular crashes on that particular road.

According to them, they have recorded almost 30 dangerous crashes in the four junction alone in 2025, lamenting that the crashes usually lead to human injuries.

They said their constant cry for the city authorities to institute measures to stop the vehicular crashes seemed to have fallen on deaf ears so they have turned to the media.

Incidentally, when THE NEW PUBLISHER visited the four junction few days ago for inspection, there was fresh accident between a Sprinter bus and Toyota saloon car at the spot.

Most of the people in the two vehicles sustained injuries and they were rushed to the hospital before the police were called to tow the accident cars to the station for traffic to flow.

The Denyame residents said the solution to stop the frequent crashes is either the installation of a traffic light or the construction of speed ramps at the junction to control car movements.

They therefore, once again, appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to come to their aid before the accident claim human lives at the Denyame four junction.
