Don’t Stop Sammy Crabbe – John Boadu

THE NEW Patriotic Party (NPP) was wrong in preventing Sammy Crabbe from picking nomination forms to contest for the party’s national chairmanship position, says, John Boadu.

The Acting General Secretary of the party said, ideally, Crabbe, though suspended from the party, should not have been denied the right to pick nomination forms.

He argued that, per the party’s constitution, it is only the Vetting Committee that had the right to determine if someone had the right to contest for party positions or not.

Sammi Crabbe, a former first vice chairman of the NPP, was last week prevented from picking nomination forms to take part in the upcoming national elections.

The development generated a lot of confusion within both ruling and opposition parties across the country.

Commenting on the issue on Nhyira FM, John Boadu said: “The NPP’s guideline for elections clearly states that nobody should be denied the chance to pick forms.

“Even suspended members in the party like Sammy Crabbe are permitted to pick form and it is the sole duty of the Vetting Committee to state whether they can contest or not”.

According to him, the NPP vetting committee is made up of respected and strong party people, who would strictly adhere to the constitution, regarding who qualifies to contest in party polls.
