Dr Aning calls for need to Protect legacy of Kofi Annan

Dr Kwesi Aning, Head of the Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), has called on the need to protect the legacy of the former UN Secretary-General, adding,” protecting his legacy should be a nationally-led process.”

Speaking on Accra-based Starr FM, on ways by which the legacies of Kofi Annan can be protected and nurtured, he added, “We can start with his Papers, handwritten letters, books, and cataloguing them for future study.” Dr Anning suggested.

He was, however, quick to express his displeasure with the country’s approach to protecting the legacy of its people.

“I think the real issue for me is how we protect the legacy of the African icon, this is a country that has a terrible reputation when it comes to the protection of the legacy of its sons and daughters. The greatest legacy for us as Ghanaians is that he gave us great representation on the international scene.” he added.

The former United Nation’s Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, passed on Saturday, August 2018, after a short illness at a Hospital in the Swiss city of Bern.
