Driver kills city guard …over illegal parking confrontation

A driver in Kumasi who was prevented for parking his vehicle at an unapproved spot has stabbed to death, a City Guard of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) who disallowed the illegal parking.

The killed KMA City Guard whose name was given as Thomas Amakye Yankey, popularly known as ‘Congo Soldier’ was on official duty around the PZ area in Kumasi last Saturday when he saw the driver, Kingsley Amoah, 25 attempting to park at a section of the road not meant for parking.

The driver, Kingsley Amoah, was said to have gotten angry and it lead to a verbal confrontation between himself and the KMA City Guard, Congo Soldier.

After the heated confrontation, Congo Soldier left the PZ area and continued his duty around the Kejetia Market where he was directing vehicles to ease traffic and ensuring that road traffic regulations are adhered to.

Within an hour, the driver he confronted at PZ, showed up at the Kejetia area with a knife with which he attacked Congo Soldier, stabbed him multiple times.

Before onlookers could rush to the rescue of the KMA City Guard, the driver, Kingsley Amoah, had stabbed him multiple times in the chest and the neck with blood gushing out while he moaned in agonized semi-consciousness.

The angry driver killed stabbed the City Guard and killed him on the spot before his anger subdued.

The lifeless body of Congo Soldier has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue in Kumasi for preservation and autopsy.

Henrietta Aboagye, the KMA PRO, who confirmed Congo Soldier’s death to THE NEW PUBLISHER, said Kingsley Amoah has been arrested and caged by police in Kumasi.
