DROBO, JAPEKROM DEATHS HITS 3 …Gov’t Bans Guns

THE DEATH toll in the conflict between Japekrom and Drobo, in the Brong Ahafo Region, has increased to three.

The police in the Brong Ahafo region, last week confirmed two deaths and other injuries to the media.

But it has emerged that three people rather lost their lives after the violent clashes, which broke out last week.

Tension in the two towns is still high as there are reports of people from both feuding sides, threatening to attack.

Meanwhile, government has banned people of Japekrom and Drobo and the nearby towns from carrying weapons.

“There is total ban on all persons in the aforementioned communities and their environs carrying arms and ammunition of any offensive weapons.

“Any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted”, a press release from government said.

Authored by the Minister of Interior, Ambrose Dery, the statement also urged residents of the affected towns to embrace peace.

He also said a curfew had been placed on Drobo, Japekrom, Babianiha, Kwasibuokrom, Mpuasu, Basekrom, Kojokesekrom and Katakyiekrom in the Jaman South Municipality in the Brong Ahafo region.
