Dzifa Gunu, Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Digital Centres Limited, has outlined plans to establish regional offices for the organisation, aiming to move beyond a centralised model based only in Accra.
Speaking on what he would focus on in the next year if given the opportunity to continue in office, Gunu criticised previous leadership for being too Accra-centric.
“I will probably not be Kofi Ofosu Nkansah [former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP)] and his successor who sat in Accra and said they were CEOs of Ghana Digital Centres.
“You cannot be CEOs of Ghana Digital Centres in Accra when you don’t have regional offices. That kind of mediocrity I am not able to live with it,” he said on Citi Eyewitness News on Friday February 13.
Gunu emphasised his commitment to seeing at least two regional offices established under the Centre, stating that several existing centres currently under the Ministry of Communication would be integrated into this plan.
“Already we have 10 or nine other centres currently in the possession of the ministry of communication, but I have spoken to my minister and he says I should come with a plan, and I am working on the plan. I won’t be in Accra carrying myself as the CEO of Ghana Digital Centres while it is just Accra Digital Centre,” he added.
