Famous Ghanaian singer, Afia Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, popularly known as Efya, has surprised many fans after tying the knot with Nigerian singer Tomi Thomas.
Videos and pictures that surfaced online on February 15, 2026, showed that the private ceremony took place a day earlier on Valentine’s Day. There were no public hints, announcements, or engagement news before the ceremony.
As soon as the photos and videos appeared online, social media platforms were flooded with reactions. While many fans congratulated the couple, others were curious about who the groom, Tomi Thomas was?
Efya, whose real name is Jane Fara Fauzzier Afia Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, is one of Ghana’s most celebrated vocalists. She has built a strong name for herself in the music industry over the years. However, her husband, Tomi Thomas, is not as widely known in Ghana. Here is what we know about him.
Background
Tomi Thomas was born in Nigeria on November 9, 1992. He is 33 years old. He is a singer, songwriter, and producer.
Although not much is publicly known about his personal life, he is believed to have lived and studied in Lagos, Nigeria, and also in the United States.
His love for music started at a very young age. According to him, it all began when he was just four years old at his grandmother’s birthday party.
“I had to do something, so I just started performing for the family, and everybody loved it. That’s how my musical journey started,” he recalled in an interview with the iMullar website.
From that moment, he developed a deep passion for performing. In school, he continued to nurture his talent. He took up drumming and joined the drama club, where he built his confidence and stage presence.
Tomi Thomas carried his love for music into high school. There, he joined a music group called “Castey Republic.” This was one of his early steps into organized music.
In 2008, he officially became a professional musician after recording with popular Nigerian sound engineer Ikon at his “Red Room Studio.”
After finishing high school, he joined another music group known as L.O.S (Loud on Sound). The group was active between 2010 and 2014. During that time, they released several popular songs, including “On Fire” and “Wish You Could Stay.” These tracks helped the group gain attention within Nigeria’s growing music scene.
Tomi Thomas has had connections with Ghana’s music industry for several years. In 2013, L.O.S released a song titled “Bad Guy P,” which featured Nigerian singer Banky W and Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie. The song became a hit in both Nigeria and Ghana.
In 2021, he had his first performance in the United Kingdom when he joined Ghanaian Afro-dancehall musician Stonebwoy on his Anloga Junction UK Tour.
“I was at home in Nigeria; my manager, Anthony, called me and said he had spoken to my international manager, David, and they were like, ‘Stonebwoy is going on tour.’ I was like, I’m gonna come’
“Two weeks later, I touched down and called up Stonebwoy; he said, ‘pull up. We got on the tour bus, went to Manchester, and we did it; it was madness. We got on the bus again, went to Birmingham, and did it again,” he said in an interview with Adesope Olajide in 2021.
He also revealed that he was expected to perform in Ghana for the first time at Stonebwoy’s BHIM Concert in Accra, but he was unable to attend.
Now, in 2026, Tomi Thomas has stepped into the spotlight again, this time for his marriage to Efya. The Valentine’s Day ceremony attracted several celebrities, including King Promise and Hajia4Reall. The star-studded event has quickly become one of the most talked-about entertainment stories of the year.
