Empress Gifty Crowned Artiste of the Year at GMA USA

Popular Ghanaian gospel musician Empress Gifty has been named the overall winner at the 2025 Ghana Music Awards US, taking home the prestigious Artiste of the Year title.

The event was held on August 16, 2025, at ACX1 Studios in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where Ghanaian musical talents from both Ghana and the United States were celebrated. The ceremony featured several winners, including US-based Ghanaian artistes such as Jay Hover, C-Ben, and Kay Rockz.

A special tribute segment honored the memories of late Highlife legends Dada KD and Daddy Lumba. Veteran musician Gyedu-Blay Ambolley was also recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades of contribution to Ghanaian music.

The program was filled with exciting performances from Empress Gifty, comedian OB Amponsah, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, and award-winning artiste Kofi Kinaata.

The most anticipated moment of the night came when the Artiste of the Year category was announced. Empress Gifty faced stiff competition from some of Ghana’s biggest names, including King Promise, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Diana Hamilton, Joe Mettle, Fameye, KiDi, and King Paluta.

When her name was declared as the winner, the gospel star, visibly emotional, mounted the stage with her husband, politician Hopeson Adorye. She broke down in tears as she expressed her gratitude, paying tribute to her late mother and thanking God for her success. She also acknowledged the role of Kuami Eugene, who collaborated with her on her popular hit, Watch Me.

Her victory was celebrated widely by fans and industry colleagues, with many taking to social media to shower her with congratulatory messages. The win has cemented Empress Gifty’s place as one of Ghana’s most influential gospel musicians.
