Eric Adjei Justifies Gov’t Directive On Prophecies

The Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Mr. Eric Adjei has explained that, government directive to religious leaders in Ghana to submit prophecies or spiritual messages of national importance is not meant to disrespect or make mockery of their work as ordained men of God.

In addition, he said, it is rather to bring decorum and sanity into the system, and avoid fear and panic on government officials.

“There are true men of God but for sanity to prevail in the system, some of these things have to be done. I’m in government and if we say government appointees, I’m part because of my appointment. A prophet or man of God can say something about me and it would deter me from even picking car to do my work as a government appointee. But if you call me in closed meeting and inform me about such revelations that Eric, I have seen this about you and if you do this or that, it would help, I think it’s not bad. One thing our Muslim community hate is prophesies, they believe that when you see something about someone, pray for the person or go to the person he stated during panel discussion segment on Asempa FM ‘Ekosiisen’ on Monday, August 11, 2025.

Whiles many men of God including the leader of the Holiness of Christ Zion Ministry, Prophet Fire Oja, believes it’s a bad directive, Eric supports it, saying it would bring discernment, and proper stewardship over the nation’s future, especially in difficult times.

He continued, “So, we plead with our great Pastors that, this government direction is not meant to disrespect any man of God, NO, NDC government won’t do such a thing. We believe you, our recent elections we saw that the God factor is really important. The men of God are part of us, I don’t think that, the relationship is no more there. They told us about the importance of National Day of Prayers and Thanksgiving and it was done. The door is opened for everybody in this country. We believe, the nation building is not only for politicians, it belongs to us all. So anyway, we can do our part for God blessings to prevail, that is very important.

“I’m not the one to sit here to say what someone is saying is not true, its subject for some closed-door meetings on it. Maybe the word ‘review’ is what has brought about all these issues but if you know there is something that we see and can tell the leaders and can help to safe the country form bad things, I think that won’t be bad. What is America’s population compared to Ghana, 31st night how many prophesies we hear from America? Some are always thinking of innovation, planning of development and growth, some too are thinking about how God will help them grow.”

Background

The NEIP CEO’s comment comes after Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, in a statement said “as part of strengthening national coordination on spiritual matters, especially in these times of uncertainty and complexity, we kindly encourage you to inform all Prophets, Men and Women of God under your oversight that any prophecy or spiritual insight of a national nature, especially those with implications for high-profile political leaders, governance, national security, or public stability should be formally relayed to the Office of the Presidential Envoy.”

By-Election

Reacting to the decision by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to field a candidate in the upcoming Tamale Central Parliamentary by-election, expecting same from the NDC in the Akwatia by-election scheduled for September 2, 2025, Eric said, the NPP is engaged in a political strategy to sway voter sentiment.

“We have to do our political communication so well and properly, what made the NPP to issue this statement to say they want to stay out of the Temale Central by-election, it is just for political gain. They want to use upcoming Akwatia election for their political communication gain but as I stated earlier, we have to do it well. This leadership, Ernest, and Ama contesting election, didn’t we see the stance they took in this country They were all against Ernest then. They were all against him. After winning primaries with four votes difference or so, majority of them never supported my friend in Akwatia. We know. All of them are hypocrites. Now he’s late, you want to use him for politics.”

He added, “Even some of them who were ministers in the previous administration, they were against my friend, although they were in the same party. These are some of the pains he shared with me when he was alive, so where from this hypocrisy. Are they the ones to teach us on how we the (NDC) should administer our party? They said they’ve extended a hand of guest by staying out of Tamale Central by-election so we (NDC) should do same. For if I want to say things about Ernest, I will be very emotional and may be different from how I will talk about some of the (NPP) people.

“Even when he was facing court issues after the elections, how did they support him? What didn’t they do to him, do you know the hardship he faced before he died? Hypocrisy! My friend went through pains in the hands of NPP before dying? Hypocrites.  Now they want to use his death for cheap political gains. What are they talking about? They (the NPP) can choose not contest for the next presidential election, we don’t have a problem.”
