The Okaikwei South Public School Renovation and Upgrade Project: This project is one of the transformation programs under the Odumaku Dream Foundation, with assistance from the Ga Mantse Foundation.”
He added, “For too long, public schools in our constituency have struggled with inadequate facilities, outdated infrastructure, and a learning environment that does not inspire our children to dream big. We all know that education is the foundation of development, the key to unlocking opportunities, and the greatest investment we can make in our community.
“That is why, as your Member of Parliament, I have taken this bold step to renovate, upgrade, and transform public schools in Okaikwei South, because our children deserve nothing but the best. This is designed to improve teaching and learning conditions for over 800,000 learners and 350 dedicated teachers across 20 schools in Okaikwei South. We are not just fixing schools; we are building a brighter and more prosperous future for the next generation of leaders, innovators, and change-makers.”
He concluded, “The first phase of the project will focus on Bishop School and will be financed from my personal funds as a Member of Parliament for the constituency, with assistance from His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse. The Okaikwei South Public School Renovation and Upgrade Project will as well undertake the following:
- Painting and beautification of the buildings.
- Fencing the school compound to ensure the security and safety of our students and learners.
- Lawn establishment landscaping.
- Replacement of old and broken furnitures, so that our children no longer struggle with inadequate desks and chairs.
- Provision of well-equipped libraries and ICT centres, because in this digital age, no child should be left behind in accessing technology and knowledge.
- Motivational packages for teachers, because an empowered and encouraged teacher produces outstanding students.
- Introduction of agricultural experimental activities, including gardening and livestock farming.
The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu who was also present at the event on his part stressed the importance of investing in education and commended Mr. Adomako for the initiative to improve the environment in public schools.
“Ordinarily, after hearing him, one would have said an overambitious investment of $79 million in education. But to paraphrase his words, we are investing in the future, as well as that of young people. I have every faith and confidence that he will honor to the best of his ability and capacity and his intervention to see improved the learning environment. And to assure him that evidence abound that a strong relationship between a good learning environment and good learning outcomes, so he got it absolutely right.
He added, “The second would have been an indictment of the state and government. This indictment would raise the question: Why are public schools in dilapidated structures, and structures that are not good enough to support effective teaching and learning? But again, I also see it as a wake-up call. He is urging the government and the state that when we promise free education, it must come with investment in infrastructure, textbooks, exercise books, and the quality of teachers.
“He has also assured me that he will invest in motivating teachers in this constituency to give their best to our young people. So, to Honourable Ernest Adumako, I have no doubt that, with your shared vision, you will go far as the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei South. I trust that as you serve this constituency honestly and diligently, the people will honour you with a vote for your return to Parliament.”
