Europe’s Giants Chase Antoine Semenyo

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has started the 2025/26 Premier League season in outstanding form, and his performances have quickly caught the attention of some of Europe’s top football clubs.

The Black Stars striker, who signed a long-term contract extension with AFC Bournemouth during the summer, is now being closely monitored by Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, RB Leipzig, and Atletico Madrid. Even though his deal at the Vitality Stadium runs until 2030, scouts from these clubs are keeping a close eye on him after his explosive start to the campaign.

Statistics from Transfermarkt show that Semenyo has scored four goals and provided two assists in his first six league games this season. That means he has directly contributed to 75 percent of Bournemouth’s goals so far.

More than just numbers, Semenyo has become the heartbeat of manager Andoni Iraola’s side. His combination of pace, strength, and close control allows him to glide past defenders, while his pressing and defensive work rate make him equally important when the team does not have the ball.

Interest in the Ghanaian forward is not entirely new. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were both keen to sign him in the summer, but he chose to extend his stay with Bournemouth. Reports suggest that his new contract does not include a release clause, which could spark a major transfer battle if Bournemouth ever decide to sell.

According to TBR Football, both Manchester City and Aston Villa have already sent scouts to watch him in recent weeks. Their chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, stated:
“Antoine Semenyo is one of the Premier League’s form players. He had Man United and Tottenham showing interest in the summer and now some of Europe’s top clubs are looking. As it stands, Bournemouth are intent on making progress this summer and that means no sales. They have lost the likes of Huijsen, Kerkez and Zabarnyi in recent months, and they are insistent Semenyo won’t be following them through the exit doors in January.”

Outside England, Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig are also monitoring him, with Atletico Madrid joining the growing list of admirers. For now, Bournemouth insists they will keep their star man, but with his form soaring, it may become difficult to hold off Europe’s elite.

Away from club football, Semenyo is expected to play a key role when Ghana seeks qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Black Stars need four points from their final two fixtures to book a place at next year’s tournament, and Semenyo’s form could be decisive.

In a separate interview, Semenyo also addressed the issue of racism in football. After suffering racist abuse during Bournemouth’s Premier League opener, he called for stronger punishment. He said that while league officials have promised tougher action, more needs to be done to tackle the problem.
