Ex-GFA Boss, 11 Others Fight For John Kumah’s Seat

TWELVE PEOPLE are reported to have made their intentions clear to contest in the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) by-election in Ejisu, slated for Saturday, April 13, 2024.

The Ejisu Constituency seat became vacant after John Kumah, who was serving his first term as Ejisu MP, unfortunately kicked the bucket after short illness.

Reports reaching THE NEW PUBLISHER indicated that all the 12 people are top NPP members who hail from the Ejisu Constituency, hence their desire to contest in the polls.

The twelve people includes former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is said to have hit the road running, in terms of campaign for votes.

Also in the race to succeed John Kumah are Helena Mensah, Eric Osei Akoto, Abena Pokuaa Amoah-Boaitey, Kwame Kyeretwie – Amponsah and Lawyer Kwabena Boateng.

The remaining party members vying for the seat are Lawyer Portia Acheampong, Bright Gyimah, Dr. Evans Duah, Aaron Prince Duah, Klinsman Karikari Mensah and Mame Yaa Aboagye.

Posters of the twelve contestants have so far been circulated wide on social media. There are also reports that their supporters are on the ground campaigning for votes.

The NPP, in related development, officially opened nominations for the upcoming Ejisu by election on Tuesday, April 2 and it would come to an end on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
