EX-KMA BOSS CALLS FOR PEACE IN NDC

A former Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regime, Samuel Sarpong, has called for ceasefire in the Asawase branch of the party.

The NDCs strong hold in the Ashanti Region, the Asawase Constituency, has been in flames for some months now over the upcoming party elections.

The party leadership, during the parliamentary primaries for the constituency, disqualified one Masawudu Mubarick, who is said to be very popular in Asawase, thereby causing anger among his supporters.

Masawudu Mubarick’s supporters have for about two occasions stormed the NDC regional office at Amakom to lock the office and burn car types.

Samuel Sarpong, who rushed to the NDC office when the angry persons had attacked the place again on Monday, openly begged the feuding party to exercise restraint.

He admonished the NDC members at Asawase, especially the supporters of Masawudu Mubarick, to adopt dialogue instead of violence to address their grievances.

According to him, the NDC has a crucial election to contest in 2020, which is just some few months away, therefore the party needs to stay united in all fronts.

In this regard, he stated that washing the NDCs ‘dirty linen’ in public would impede the party from winning the upcoming polls so the NDC members should embrace peace.
