DISASTER STRUCK when a farmer, one Sumaila Ayambi, accidentally slipped and got drowned in a deep Galamsey pit and died soon afterwards.
The sad incident reportedly occurred on August 14, 2025 at Agogoso, a small community near Nyinahin, in the Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti Region.
According to the police, Ayambi had closed from work in his farm and he was walking towards home to ready as he always did but things didn’t go as planned for him.
On his way back home, he saw a mining pit, which was filled with water. Ayambi, who was a bit dirty, decided to wash his himself with the water in order to look nice.
Whilst Ayambi was washing himself, he accidentally slipped into the deep pit. He tried his utmost best to escape from harm’s way but his efforts proved futile.
The Assemblyman for Agogoso Electoral Area, Amponsah James, after being informed about the disaster, quickly raced to the police station and lodged official complaint.
“Police and the complainant visited the crime scene and found a lifeless body of a male adult wearing a pair of boxer shorts and lying in the spine position.
“The body of the deceased was identified to the police as Sumiala Ayambi, aged 33 years, by Inusa Ayambi, deceased’s brother”, said the police in a report.
Some Good Samaritans, the police said, jumped into the pit and retrieved Ayambi’s body but it was too late as he had already given up the ghost. The police are still investigating Ayambi’s death.
