Fear Dating White Women – Kwabena Warns Footballers

Ghanaian musician Kwabena Kwabena has advised African footballers playing overseas to be very careful when getting into romantic relationships, especially with White women.

Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on July 5, 2025, the highlife singer shared his opinion in response to the ongoing rape allegations against Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey. He said he had observed a trend where many African footballers face serious personal and legal troubles after dating White women abroad.

“I don’t want to sound racist, but I would advise these young African men going overseas to play football, be cautious of their relationships with White women,” he said.

Kwabena Kwabena explained that several African players have ended up in messy divorces or face heavy child support cases, often losing their properties in the process.

“Most of these African footballers, after they’ve been sent out there, eventually get involved with White ladies and get into one issue or another, be it divorce and their properties get taken, or they get hit with child support. It doesn’t end well for them,” he added.

He urged Ghanaians not to mock Thomas Partey, but rather learn from his situation.

“When you see a man fall, don’t laugh, learn; if not, you might also fall.”

The musician also said that relationships that begin well can later turn into major problems. He suggested Partey may have had unresolved issues with his accusers.

Kwabena Kwabena’s comments come as Partey, the former Arsenal midfielder, faces five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women. The incidents are said to have happened between 2021 and 2022. Partey has denied all the charges and is expected to appear in court on August 5.
