FIFA Launches Women’s World Cup in Rio

FIFA officially kicked off the road to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 with a vibrant celebration in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, combining football, music, art, and Brazilian culture at one of the world’s most famous locations.

The launch marks a key milestone for the first Women’s World Cup to be held in South America.

The event introduced the tournament’s official emblem, the GO EPIC™ slogan, and a unique sonic identity inspired by Brazilian rhythms. FIFA says these elements are designed to unite fans across all platforms and bring the tournament to life with energy, emotion, and cultural flair.

“Brazil lives and breathes football, and you can feel the excitement here about welcoming the world and hosting a historic event,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “You can also feel something even more powerful, as this country is fully committed to making this a watershed moment for the women’s game. The official brand reflects the vision we share with our hosts: a joyful, impactful and truly Brazilian FIFA Women’s World Cup!”

The new emblem combines the letters “W” (for “women” and “world”) and “M” (from the Portuguese words mulheres and mundo) and is inspired by the Brazilian flag and the geometry of a football pitch. It represents movement and mastery while paying tribute to Brazil’s national identity.

The GO EPIC™ slogan invites fans everywhere to join the tournament’s adventure. Meanwhile, the tournament’s sonic identity uses samba-infused percussion, Brazilian rhythms, and Afro-Brazilian heritage, giving the event a distinctive sound. Fans can listen to the Sonic ID on streaming platforms and FIFA’s YouTube.

The launch gathered famous football icons from both the women’s and men’s game, symbolizing unity within the global football community.

In a video message, Brazilian legend Marta spoke about her country’s connection to football: “Football is about love and Brazil loves football. Our country is ready to embrace the women’s game with pride, emotion and belief. This tournament will create unforgettable stories and reveal new heroes, inspiring girls and boys, women and men, and making our love for the game grow even stronger.”

FIFA says the celebration reflects Brazil’s passion for football and its commitment to making the Women’s World Cup 2027 a historic, joyful, and unforgettable event for players and fans alike.
